ANNIESLAND TO FORE IN GLASGOW 17S WIN

MATCH REPORT GLASGOW U17 V CALEDONIA U17
Thursday, 26 February 2009
GLASGOW UNDER 17s WIN AT STIRLING The Glasgow Under 17 Development Squad enjoyed a good win against their Caledonia counterparts in the Inter District Competition at Bridgehaugh the home of Stirling County RFC. The Caledonia team made good use of the conditions and had the upper hand for the first twenty minutes of the game but Glasgow found some go forward and clawed back a good portion of the Caledonia lead before conceding a soft try before half time. This development programme uses all 22 players in matches and both teams made the changes during the break. Glasgow set about their task with huge endeavour and deployed some powerful forward play with enterprising attack. Making better use of the conditions than their counterparts had in the first half, the Glasgow boys were able to sustain territorial pressure and score some well-worked tries. The final score was 37-18 the most pleasing part of which was running in seven tries. This was a solid squad effort and all 22 players are to be commended for their work and whilst not wanting to single out players for special mention, and there were some excellent individual performances, it seems reasonable to acknowledge that Ross Inglis scored four tries. The players will now have to work even harder as they prepare to meet Edinburgh next Wednesday, with a 7.00pm kick-off at Stirling. Thanks to Kevin Tkachuk of Glasgow Warriors who came along to support the team and for his words of encouragement after the match. Glasgow Under 17s
