Watsonians 21-22 Glasgow Hawks

WATSONIANS committed rugby suicide in going down 21 - 22 to Glasgow Hawks at Myreside today.
The defeat leaves the Capital club perilously close to the relegation zone in the Scottish Hydro Electric Premiership and they have only themselves to blame after this debacle.

Not content with kicking away at least one overlap when it would have been easier to score Watsonians had Tyler Hawes and Torrie Callander sin-binned in each half for ball-killing and back-chat respectively.

Against that background centre Dougie Brown must have been tearing his hair out after a try double helped Watsonians into a 21-6 interval lead.

To be fair it was always going to be difficult playing into a stiff wind after the opening 40 minutes which had also seen Mike Ker slot three penalties and a conversion to a couple of penalties by Mike Rainey.

But two missed tackles allowed Jono Wright in for a try converted by Rainey who had earlier slotted a penalty.

A further Rainey penalty cut the gap to a couple of points and the same player brought about the inevitable - a Hawks winning lead - with a further penalty eight minutes from full time.
