During the summer there have been several recruits to our squad. Our most prominent signing is in the backs where we are joined by ex-Premiership top scorer Darren O'Leary from Worcester ( and previous to this was with Saracens, Harlequins and Gloucester). In the forwards we have props Rob Sigley (returning to us from Bees), James Fallon (from Nuneaton, ex-Cov and Nottingham) and Gordon McFadyen (from Glasgow Hawks), hooker Leroy Hughes (from Cheltenham), locks Tom Skelding (from Gloucester) and Ben Blackwall (Nottingham), and back-row forward Neil (Wag) Mason from Worcester. I believe that these players will strengthen our squad to enable us to make a real push for promotion.
After an encouraging training game against Worcester, we had a successful time in Scotland, beating Glasgow Hawks on Friday by 29-12 (tries from Nathan Bressington (2), Mark Evans, Gordon McFadyen, and Tom Warren, plus 2 conversions from Ollie Thomas). This was a good test, and although not firing on all cylinders, we were quite pleased with the performance. On Sunday we beat Stirling County by 38-22 (tries from Nathan Bressington (3), Tom McIntosh, Tom Skelding and Carl Colvin, with Ollie Thomas converting 4). This was not such a good show, but it was nevertheless good to get the win.
