Two ex Hawks face Baa Baas

Two ex Hawks Andy Hendrson and Richie Gray add to the long list of players who have passed through Anniesland and played for the Barbarians
29 other players from Old/New Anniesland have pulled on the famous jersey stretching from Jimmie Dykes and Herbert Waddell to Scott Hutton and Cammy Little

Two Glasgow Warriors have been included in the Barbarians side for the annual East Midlands Mobbs Memorial Match against a Bedford Blues XV.
Andy Henderson and Richie Gray start in the match to be played at Goldington Road on Tuesday April 7 (ko 7.30pm).

This will be the 82nd Mobbs Memorial Match but only the second time that Bedford Blues have provided the opposition.

Until last season East Midlands provided the opposition for the longest continuous fixture on the Barbarians’ fixture list, though the Barbarians did play a game against Bedford in 1894.

The match is played in honour of Lt Col Edgar Mobbs, the former England, Northampton, East Midlands, Olney and Bedford Modern School wing, who was killed leading an assault on an enemy machine gun post at Passchendale in July 1915.

A wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Embankment in Bedford on the afternoon of the match in Mobbs’ memory.
