Glasgow ring the changes

Sean Lineen has made big changes to his Glasgow team after last weekend's disappointing defeat to a second-string Munster side at Firhill.
The Warriors travel to Wales to take on Llanelli Scarlets in Saturday with Glasgow coach determined to avoid another Magners League let down.

"We have been here before," he said in The Herald. "It was very disappointing last week, in front of a great crowd with a great atmosphere, it was a fantastic opportunity but we did not take it.

"There has been a bit of soul-searching and honest chat, but the bottom line is that we can talk as much as we like but the guys have to go out and do it.

"Against teams like Munster you have to convert pressure into points, which we are not doing, and also look at tries conceded, we are being scored against too easily. That is a personal thing for individuals and a little bit of needing to front up as well. It is not good enough, the guys know that."

"The highs have been very high this season but the lows have been dreadful. We have five games left and it is all about how the guys want to finish these games as a group. Training last week was very good, very solid. This week has been pretty intense, but we will see what happens at the weekend.

"It is a case of looking at what we want, the hunger, the desperation, whatever you want to call it."

Glasgow have made five personnel changes - John Barclay and Graeme Morrison return along with Thom Evans, who was initially selected last weekend but was ruled out because a neurosurgeon ruled that he had failed to recover sufficiently from the concussion suffered on Scotland duty at Twickenham.

"It is great to have Graeme back along with Thom on the wing and John Barclay, as well," said Sean.

"We have made a few changes for the right reasons. These guys have got points to prove, real opportunities to make their marks and make their positions their own."

Colin Gregor replaces Bernie Stortoni, who misses his first Glasgow match after 43 successive appearances because he was concussed last week, while Dougie Hall is also recalled to the front-row along with Kevin Tkachuk. Kelly Brown shifts to No.8 with John Beattie having been ruled out for the rest of the season with a torn hamstring while Ruaridh Jackson moves to stand-off.

"There are a number of things there," said Sean. "We know Dan Parks isn't playing as well as he can and we have a young lad there, Ruaridh. We have Graeme back, so now there is an opportunity for Ruaridh to play at No.10 and we will see what he can do.

"I've been really impressed with him, we know how good he could be, there are parts of his game he still needs to work on, but is attitude in training has been fantastic, as has Dan Parks'. Dan knows he can have a massive influence on the bench. That is important, too."
