Glasgow Hawks 24 Ayr 17
Both Glasgow Hawks and Ayr looked determined to continue their successful start to the tournament, but it was Hawks who made the breakthrough. Grant Strang before Graeme Harkness and Sean Murray weighed in with Peter Hericevich converting the last two scores.
Hawks didn’t have it all their own way and Frazer Climo carried the ball behind the posts to reduce the gap to 5-19 at the break.
Andy Wilson came close to crossing for Ayr before Cammy Taylor did. Taylor made it two in two ties when he side-stepped Hericevich. Climo converting.
Murray hit back immediately and it proved enough for Hawks to claim the last semi-final spot and a tie against Melrose.
