CUP UPDATE HAWKS IN SEMIS ACCIES/GHK IN QUARTERS

The Scottish Hydro Electric Cup reaches the business-end of the competition this week.

Selkirk, who are just one point off second place in Premiership Division One, will be looking to add to an already successful first season back in the top flight with a win over an Accies side who currently sit third from bottom, but who reached the Cup final as recently as two years ago.
Cup holders Melrose entertain newly crowned Premiership One champions, Ayr, at the Greenyards on Saturday.
The Borderers avoided the potential banana-skin defeating Aberdeen Grammar 22-32 on the road, while Ayr squeezed past Currie 19-22 at Malleny Park – both sides are a league game apiece.
Also on Saturday Boroughmuir welcome city rivals – and last season’s losing finalists – Heriots’ to Meggetland after a last-minute score saw them edge past Premier Two opponents GHA (29-34) in round six, while their opponents made the quarter-final in style with a 10-44 win at the home of Edinburgh rivals Watsonians.
The final tie ensures that a Premiership Division Two side will feature in the semis as Haddington take on run-away League winners Dundee.
The Mayfield club travel to Haddington with justifiable confidence after comfortably beating their cup opponents in the league at home 34-17 on Saturday.
