THE SOCCER CONNECTIONS GROW

With the arrival of Rangers at Old Anniesland today High School Club president and former Queens Park trialist Eric Hugh has been in touch

Following up our previous article he reminds us that one of his predecessors Bob McPhail came from a family with strong Rangers connections his father being the clubs top scorer(230 goals) until the arrival of Ally McCoist

The Docherty brothers(Jimmy, Ianand Glen)also had an Ibrox pedigree with their father playing for Rangers in the 1930s

The soccer connections stretch well beyond these shores in fact as far as South Bend Indiana where the director of soccer at Notre Dame University once played rugby at Old Anniesland one Bobby Clark Queens Park-Aberdeen and Scotland--regularly played rugby in the morning and soccer in the afternoon
