TOP COACHES ON HAND TO HELP CLUB GAME
Tuesday, 28 July 2009
Some of Scotland’s leading coaches will be on hand to pass on knowledge to those steering club rugby throughout the country at a series of updates that begins next month.
Ken MacEwen, Scottish Rugby’s national strength and conditioning co-ordinator, will deliver the first update on season planning at Stirling County RFC’s Bridgehaugh clubrooms on Wednesday 12 August.
National Academy coach Alun Powell leads an update on scrum-half play at Murrayfield Stadium on Monday 17 August. A fortnight later (Monday 31 August) Highlands and Islands Performance Development Manager David Ross will deliver an update on the same topic at Aberdeen Wanderers’ Groats Road ground.
Meanwhile on Monday 7 September, former Scotland stand-off and specialist coach, Duncan Hodge, will lead an update on kicking at a club in Glasgow North region.
All updates will be from 7-9pm and those scheduled for later in the season are due to be led by, among others, Edinburgh’s new head coach, Rob Moffat (pictured); Glasgow Warriors’ forwards’ coach Shade Munro; specialist coach and former Scotland hooker Stevie Scott; and Scotland’s defence coach Graham Steadman.
Graham Lindsay, Scottish Rugby’s coach development officer, said: “These updates give those coaching at club and youth level throughout the country an opportunity to keep up to speed with the latest skills and techniques, which can then be used or adapted to their own advantage at their own club.”
Further information on coaching updates is available from the Scottish Rugby website http://www.scottishrugby.org/community/content/view/1041/105/
