MILLIGAN AND DUFFY TURNOUT FOR GLASGOW

GLASGOW BENEFIT IN DEFEAT

Glasgow Warriors 7, Edinburgh Gunners 24

In simple facts and figures Edinburgh took more out of the practice match at Whitecraigs this evening. The Gunners fielded plenty of big shots and won by scoring three tries to Glasgow Warriors’ one.

Warriors, however, benefited in using the occasion to bring in back-up players such as Ben Addison from Stirling, Eric Milligan and Steven Duffy from Glasgow Hawks, A J McFarlane and Steven Manning from Ayr, and Calum Cusiter from Boroughmuir.

“It was a good exercise. It gave us the opportunity to try out club players who might be concerned later in the season,” Hugh Campbell, Glasgow’s head coach, observed. “Edinburgh sent virtually their full squad. But our guys fronted up. It was a good effort.”

As a measure of how well those back-up players responded, most of them were on the field throughout the match
