Scottish Rugby is pleased to announce today a new five year partnership with leading media consultancy, SPORTFIVE, who will be tasked with securing enhanced broadcast coverage for the game at home and abroad.

He said: “With a number of our broadcasting rights falling due for renewal in the next 12 months or so, SPORTFIVE will look after the sales of our television rights both at home and overseas.
“Coverage of Scotland matches in the RBS 6 Nations Championship and the Bank of Scotland Corporate Autumn Tests is vital, but these games should only represent part of our broadcasting portfolio.

“It’s important that we have the opportunity to watch other facets of the game on TV, be that our pro-teams, Edinburgh and Glasgow Warriors, the Scotland 7s team, whether at Murrayfield in the Emirates Airline Edinburgh 7s Festival, or elsewhere on the IRB World Series circuit, the stars of the future from our age-grade sides and those playing club rugby.
“Working in tandem with SPORTFIVE we will develop an integrated broadcasting strategy with the aim of promoting the game beyond the cherry on the cake represented by Scotland international matches.
“SPORTFIVE also carry a sizeable global presence in marketing commercial rights for many sporting organisations and the Scottish Rugby brand should help us to identify new opportunities.”
SPORTFIVE have vast worldwide experience in the exploitation of media sports rights and work on behalf of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on European television rights for both the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia and the 2016 summer games. They are also involved in TV rights for track and field athletics, tennis, motor-sports and triathlon and are a market leader in football TV rights.
