STEWART'S MELVILLE stand off prospect Liam Steele has pledged to make up for lost time as the Scottish Hydro Premiership new boys continue their return to the top flight at Glasgow Hawks on Saturday.
While Stew-Mel opened with a home defeat by Edinburgh Accies one of the silver linings was an encouraging debut – on the eve of his 21st birthday – by the son of ex-Scotland and Lions winger Billy Steele, who looked on.

Later, Liam said: "I missed two seasons after having operations to my left knee but hopefully things have settled down."

On having a famous father who was part of the unbeaten '74 Lions in South Africa Liam, an Edinburgh University student who learned his rugby in Oxfordshire, said: "There can be drawbacks but on balance it has been good having someone who's been there, done that, to turn to."

Steele jnr joined Stew-Mel from national league side Edinburgh University this season looking to experience top-club action.
