On Saturday GHK 1st XV are away to Trinity Accies for another National 3 toughie.
After a strong win at home to Lenzie last Saturday there are a couple of changes to note within the regiment.
Playing with only seven forwards against Lenzie after the dismissal of McT [in addition to the loss of The Prince due to his weak ribs trying to escape his Montgomery Burns body along with his liver] saw an inspired performance from the remaining troops that can only be described as ‘magnificent’ or ‘sensational, or possibly ‘inspirational’. Quite a sight watching seven men in unison running towards the gunfire with no further losses apart from ‘Tiny Chris’ later on in the Tall Ship’s below deck ablutions. This weeks enforced change for McT allows Greg Woolard to get his first start of the season after a lengthy injury layoff. VC Danny Hoffman and Dave Whyte, or ‘Thelma and Louise’, are back from their Bavarian road trip but ‘Air’ Horner keeps his place in the centre with Davy at his stronger position of full back.
Team as follows:
15 D ‘Chubby Disco’ Whyte
14 J ‘Got a new partner in crime called Latoya’ Shannon
13 M ‘Car’ Horner
12 D ‘Going to be fined no matter what lace-ups he’s bought this week’ Hoffman
11 R ‘Relax’ Love
10 R ‘Next week I’ll be wearing zips on my shoes’ Stewart
9 M ‘Sorry I’m working tonight’ Aird
1 A ‘Member of the Magnificent 7’ Forbes
2 G ‘Member of the Magnificent 7’ Reid
3 A ‘Member of the Magnificent 7’ Gunning
4 A ‘Member of the Magnificent 7’ Drummond
5 H ‘Member of the Magnificent 7’ Parker
6 G ‘Horribly excitable’ Woolard
7 P ‘Member of the Magnificent 7’ Broadbent
8 R ‘Member of the Magnificent 7’ McCormack
16 C ‘Ron the Rug Jeremy’ McLay
17 G ‘ My second name means horse’ Dobbin
18 A ‘ Stripped off naked at a wedding last week for no reason’ Fleming
The GHK 2nd XV are away to Irvine RFC for their first fixture of the season after last weeks postponed game. After a good session last night with healthy numbers the squad are well placed to challenge down in Ayrshire. All at the club hope these numbers continue to provide keen competition for places this season.
Best wishes to all Anniesland teams this week- 6 wins please – Rapelle le Cloche!
Yours in front row union
