GHK Update

Quietly, Quietly.

After an extremely disappointing performance last week at Trinity in Edinburgh there has been much soul searching in the barracks this week.  More than a few of the troops have realised that they are far from being officers and have to pop their helmets above the parapet this week at home to Helensburgh who will undoubtedly bring a strong, skillful side. However, after a good week’s training the OA ablutions are sparkling and the boys are keen for 3pm.

A few rifles are down most notably Rory Love and the inimitable Pete Broadbent both injured [calf and ‘just broken’ respectively]. Broadbent deserves the rest after seeing active duty on the front line in the last few matches, a man we all know will run towards the gunfire with a peg leg and bandaged eye. We still await McT’s court marshalling verdict but if available he will start on wing with Mihill dropping to bench and Adam to the 2s to grow his rug.

Credit to young Gregor Hogg who comes in for his first start in the famous jersey.

Team for this week is as follows:

15 D ‘What's a lady boy?’ Whyte
14 J ‘Show us your diamond’ Shannon
13 A ‘Garden’ Shedden
12 D ‘ustin’ Hoffman
11 J ‘Round the back and up’ Mihill
10 R ‘These Adidas buckles are slowing me down’ Stewart
9 M ‘Cocktails and Dreams’ Aird
1 A. ‘Don’t quote me on that’ Forbes
2 G ‘Huggins’ Reid
3 C ‘Achaemenid’ McLay
4 A ‘Sorry guys, I’ve really got to go’ Drummond
5 H ‘I’ve got a good theme....’Parker
6 G ‘The bearded lady’ Dobbin
7 G. ‘The whole’ Hogg
8 R ‘Paving and drainage advice’ McCormack

16 A ‘Cowboy with backache and a fish supper he bought on Saturday night still in his kitbag on Tuesday’ Gunning
17 G ‘I’m going to deal with you later’ Woolard
18 A ‘Carpet Mat’ McLay

Kenny Hamilton is taking a rest after being hit with a £10 fine for something he knows he has to live with. Flight Lieutenant Ken Cowan returns to the ranks this week to take the warm up which is will have the men ready for from the off this week.

Best wishes to all Anniesland teams this week including those making long and not so long journeys.

Yours in front row union.
