UWS SPORTS STUDENTS SCORE SUCCESS WITH CAREERS EVENT
Students studying University of the West of Scotland’s popular sports degrees recently got the chance to network and build links with representatives from leading sports organisations throughout Scotland at the University’s inaugural ‘Links with Leisure’ event.
The event, which took place on 23 September 2009 at the University’s Hamilton Campus, saw over 15 sporting organisations in attendance including Celtic FC, Rangers FC, Glasgow Hawks RFC, Kilmarnock FC, South Lanarkshire Leisure, East Renfrewshire Sports Development and Active Schools Network.
The event was an opportunity for the 500 UWS students who study Sport Coaching or Sport Development to build a valuable network of contacts from the sports sector. As part of their studies in second and third year, sports students complete placements with relevant sporting organisations and this event provided them with the perfect opportunity to make valuable links with some of the west of Scotland’s leading sporting organisations.
James Adams, Course Leader of University of the West of Scotland’s Sports Development degree, said: “We were delighted to host this event which gave our students an important opportunity to network with some of the sports sector’s top organisations.
“The feedback we have received from both students and those organisations who attended was extremely positive. The calibre of the organisations highlights not just the standing of the University but also of our sports degrees.”
