Good evening everyone,
For the second time in three weeks Accies travel up the A9 again, this time to Inverness to play Highland.
A settled side would have been nice to report but once again changes have had to be made. This week is more like a roundabout as players come and go. Fortunately Accies have great strength in depth and a number of 2nd XV players are clamouring to stake a claim. The 2nd XV is unbeaten after 4 games and the possibility of raising another team looks quite good.
Returning from injury and unavailability are speedy winger Mike Hermes, centre Dougie Horner and scrum half and last years captain, ex Hawks, Richard Mcknight. Ali McLaren and Jamie Doig are injured and Dougie Horne is unavailable.
In the forwards, prop forward Chris McAlpine makes his first appearance of the season to replace Fabi Marchetti who is away on business, Sandy Fitzpatrick returns to the side after a number of years away from Glasgow and will add considerable poundage to an already hefty pack. He will play in the second row replacing Steve Begley who moves to No.8 to replace the injured Graeme Simpson and Claudio Urra who is on loan from Hawks will play on the blind side.
Despite the changes this looks a well balanced side and it will be interesting to see how many of the missing players get their places back immediately?
Their is space on the team coach if you wish to travel. The coach leaves Anniesland at 8-45am.
If you are in the area of East Kilbride go and see the 2nd XV at 3-00pm or to Old Anniesland to see Hawks play Heriots also at 3-00pm
kind regards
Alasdair Graham
