WARRIORS NAME SQUAD FOR DRAGONS SHOWDOWN

Glasgow Warriors head coach, Sean Lineen, today named a 25-man squad ahead of Friday night’s (16 October) Heineken Cup showdown with Newport Gwent Dragons at Rodney Parade (kick-off 7:30pm).
The squad received two further blows during Saturday afternoon’s narrow loss to Biarritz with centre/wing Rob Dewey suffering a broken ankle and winger DTH van der Merwe breaking a bone in his wrist.
“We’re being tested in terms of the squad but I’ve been impressed by the attitude of the players,” said Lineen.
The Warriors dominated the majority of Saturday afternoon’s Heineken Cup opener at Firhill, but a malfunctioning lineout proved to be their undoing.
Lineen continued: “We’ll learn from the Biarritz game. Only one facet of our game wasn’t as good as where it has been. But this is the Heineken Cup and we’re still very excited about playing a big part in the competition.”
Looking ahead to this week’s return to Rodney Parade to face the Dragons for the second time this season, the last encounter being in the Magners League almost four weeks ago, Lineen said: “We won the last time we were in Wales, and we’ve played some very good rugby so far this year, so we can take heart from that. But this is Europe where it is all about winning.”
