Accies update from Ally G

After the euphoria of the double victory at Stewartry last Saturday the 1st XV and 2nd XV are both back at New Anniesland this Saturday for what is the last 3pm kick off until the end of January. The 1st XV play Hawick YM and the 2nd XV will have a tough test against Cumbernauld 2nd XV who are now in second place in Reserve League 2 West.
Accies Director of Rugby, Donald Reid had hoped that there would be very few changes in his side from last Saturday but his hopes have been dashed by a combination of injuries, social arrangements, weddings and holidays. To compensate for that he has a number of players returning, an indication of Accies strength in depth this season. Out goes Richard McKnight at scrum half and in comes Alan Wilson. In the forwards the front row has been completely reshuffled with David Calder moving across to prop from hooker and Matteo Giovanazzi and Fabi Marchetti returning at hooker and prop respectively. This is the front row that started the season.
'Man of the match' last week Sandy Fitzpatrick is injured and Graeme Simpson comes off the bench to join  Fraser Cameron in the second row. In the back row Jack Walker is out with an injury and Steve Begley is at a wedding. In their places, Cruz Kawakameni moves to No. 8, Claudio Urra remains at blindside and it is great to see the return of the dynamic Andy Jackson at openside flanker after a seven week lay off.
Apologies to the 2nd XV as the match report from Saturday said that they had won by 34-5 in fact it was by 94-5. 14 tries and 12 conversions. It is interesting to note that Accies scored all the tries in the game. Ian Williamson had scored 3 when he was replaced. Stewartry had two players injured and were reduced to thirteen. Ian changed shirt and played for them. Needless to say he scored the Stewartry try.
The Clubhouse will be a busy place on Saturday before the match. Brian Lockhart has arranged a lunch for players from the 60's and 70's. At the time of writing 48 people have indicated that they will be attending.
If you have not responded and would like to attend contact Joanna Lennox at Glasgow Academy 014 334 8558 by lunchtime Friday latest.
