Glasgow Hawks Rugby Club Glasgow Hawks Rugby Ball 2014

STATEMENT BY GLASGOW HAWKS

“We at Glasgow Hawks have been very concerned about articles that have appeared in the press concerning an alleged incident that is said to have happened at the end of our match on Saturday, October 17 against Boroughmuir. The allegation is that a racist comment was made by one of Boroughmuir’s players to one of our players.

"We are now, and always have been, an all inclusive rugby club, and we take very seriously this type of allegation. Racism has no place in 21st century Scotland and no place in rugby or sport generally.

“An emergency board meeting was held on Monday evening (October 19) at which the matter was discussed at length. We have spoken with our player on a number of occasions about the matter and have also spoken with a senior representative of Boroughmuir. Having considered all matters, including, in particular, the wishes of the player who was the subject of the alleged abuse, we have come to the conclusion that we do not intend taking any further action as a result of the alleged incident.”
