Edinburgh Accies 12 - 43 Glasgow Hawks: Adamson impresses as Hawks take flight

GLASGOW Hawks have a reputation for putting on a bit of a show whenever possible and once they'd seized control of this game, they turned on the style, running in six tries to the home side's two.
Three of those touchdowns came from the Gossman brothers, Kerr and Craig, sons of former Scotland international and West of Scotland favourite Jimmy Gossman.
Kerr rounded off a good afternoon's work by jinking through several defenders to claim the final try of the match, while Craig had earlier combined with Mike Adamson to score twice in the first half.
While he started at outside centre, Adamson finished the game at fly-half. Throughout the game, he made sure that Hawks played in the right areas of the field while keeping a close watch on the dangerous Alex Blair. It was impressive stuff, especially for someone who was playing his first game of 15-a-side rugby for a year.
"It was my first game back so I wasn't sure what to expect," said Adamson. "At least the weather stayed off so it was a good game to return for. I got a knock in my ribs last October, then got back only to break my collarbone at the Singapore sevens. Then I needed a groin operation after the Edinburgh Sevens.
"It's an exciting back line at Hawks and I think that Graham Harkness is the only one who is over six foot tall. We try and play to our strengths which means that we don't try and bash the ball up the middle but instead try to get it into space because we have good pace and players with a good step out wide."
As one of Scotland's professional sevens players, Adamson is just back from a week-long camp in Delhi ahead of the Commonwealth Games and is about to head to Paris where Scotland are entered into a sevens competition ahead of the first round of IRB events in Dubai.
To date, his attributes have been ignored in the 15-man game, but he still harbours hopes of making his mark.
"I'm training with Glasgow Warriors every day," he said. "I'm small but then so is Shane Williams. I just don't think I'm in the coach's current game plan."
