Today sees our Chief Executive, Kenny Baillie, attend his last Hawks match as the Hawks CEO before he heads off to take charge of our local professional side, the Glasgow Warriors.

Just over two years ago we started down the route of paid employees with one of the first Club Development Managers in Scottish Rugby. Such was the success of the work of Grant Talbot, that eighteen months ago we took the bold step of taking on a full-time Director of Rugby, Peter Wright, and also a CEO in Kenny. All this would not have been possible without the support of the Williams’ family and grants from Scottish Rugby and our three independent schools. In addition, there have been numerous sponsors who have contributed to the cause.

Kenny has done a great job in the 18 months that he has been in post and he will be sadly missed in many areas. All at Hawks wish KB a very successful tenure at the Warriors and we hope that his appointment will ensure that a greater and stronger link between the professional side and the community clubs in the west of Scotland is created. A win today against a championship-chasing Melrose side would a great send off for him!

In terms of Hawks moving forward, we are currently undertaking a planned review of both our Board and employee structure. We have advertised for a new Chief Executive / Commercial Manager and once we have completed our review we will be in a position to move forward. In the meantime, the Board, with the help of Zena Melki, will carry out the commercial duties of the Chief Executive with Peter Wright taking on the Chief Executive’s rugby objectives.
