Good morning everyone,
We are fast approaching the festive season and Accies have three important games before Christmas.
This Saturday they are away to Cambuslang at Coats Park, Langlee Road, Cambuslang kicking off at
2-00pm. We would like a large and vociferous support to cheer the boys on. We beat Cambuslang relatively comfortably in glorious weather at New Anniesland in September but Coats Park is notoriously wet and muddy so it will be a different sort of game.
If you are intending to travel and are in doubt as to whether the game is on or not please call me on 07740777498 between 11am and 12-30pm on Saturday.
The other games are on 12th December at New Anniesland against Caithness, please note kick off is at
1-00pm to allow our opponents to get back to Thurso at a reasonable hour, and then the big one against unbeaten Greenock Wanderers at Fort Matilda on 19th December at 2-00 pm.
The Wanderers are making a big day of this with a Corporate Lunch and other activities and are sure to have a huge support. We need to match this with some real support from the touchline. Please put the date in your diary as a must see event.
Team news is relatively good with a number of players becoming available after injury so there should be no team selection problems only on who to leave out.
The 2nd XV returned to action on Saturday after a three week lay off. Their scheduled league game against Newton Stewart was cancelled as they were unable to raise a side. Instead a 'friendly' was played against GHK 2nd XV. GHK are second top of the league above Accies so it was going to be a real test. It proved to be a wonderful ding dong that ended as a 26-26 draw. It was a game that had a goodly support enthralled for 80 minutes and just the sort of challenge that this young Accies side needed. Ali Mclaren, Matt Franklin and Chris Hall scored the tries and Ali McLaren got the rest of the points with a great display of goal kicking.
Despite the intense rivalry it was played in an excellent spirit.
