GHK News - The View from the First Man Over the Top

"Strike hard and fast and do not separate" - General Heinz Guderian

Men, so it has come to pass that once again December has entered as no pauper. This particular lunation comes dressed in finery of tinsel and garlands hardly disguising her winter colds, festive greetings and women in stockings. However, before we can press our noses against frosted toy store windows there is some serious work to be done on the fields of our great game, Rugby Union.

From what I have seen in our time in National Three together, I am convinced that there is nothing so admired as our team unity and dogged spirit, and there is nothing for which has less respect than weakness, especially weakness of the soul. We cannot afford, to work with narrow margins, offering temptations to a trial of chance.

At this time, our fortune is in our own hands and we hold the power to a bright future and now is the time to reaffirm our want. It is necessary that constancy of mind, persistency of purpose, and the grand simplicity of decision shall rule and guide the outcome of this month as it did in other recent moons. We must, and I believe we shall, prove ourselves equal to this severest of requirements. Our difficulties and trials will not be removed by turning our back to them. They will not be removed by mere waiting to see what happens; nor will they be removed by a swathe of cameo or non-appearances.

If we adhere faithfully to the heart of our promises to fellow Men of OA in August and walk forward in sedate and somber strength, seeking no individual glory, and troop moral and convictions are joined with your own in fraternal brotherhood, the high trapeze of the future will be clear, not only for us but for all at OA who follow on.

The XV for GHK this week sees the recent planned assembly finally unleashed. This chosen fifteen will show.

Padre Dunlop has been out this week and sourced a peachy pair of Sky II Mooncats and the ever imperial Assistant Adjutant General Shambilton has warmed up the Type 97 Chi-Ha.

The Regiment for tomorrows game against Trinity at OA, 2pm kick-off, is as follows:

15 D ‘Kimono‘ Whyte
14 A. ‘Mitshubishi Auto Travel’ McTavish
13 M. ‘Noodles’ Horner
12 D ‘Otanjoubi Omedetoo’ Hoffman
11 R ‘Ai shiteru’ Love
10 J ‘Hou‘ Shannon
9 A ‘Karigoya’ Shedden
1 A ‘Disuko’ Forbes
2 G ‘Sukoshi’ Reid
3 C ‘McYakimono’ McLay
4 A ‘Kamikaze’ Drummond
5 H ‘Yuta Tabuse’ Parker
6 E ‘Prince Akishino’ Thow
7 P ‘ Some say that he can wrap sushi live and his feet fit the shape of a ninja’s shoe. All we know is he’s called...’ Broadbent
8 M ‘Manga’ Borthwick

16 P. ’Fushido Uetto’ Henderson
17 R. ‘Hairando’ Niven
18 A. ‘Meshita Ragu’ McLay

Genuine best wishes and a thick slice of Dundee cake to all Anniesland teams this weekend.

Yours as always, running towards the gunfire in front row union, ball in hand and making ground, with a Samoan sidestep, handoff and correct presentation. Never beaten, its best Mizuno boot forward and onto the second phase. With thoughts of Ralgex jerseys and opportunities with armpit hair. Crouch. Touch. Pause. Engage. Heart in the fire. Head in the Icebox. Always look to the left in a photograph, mon frere.

Disco [Cpt.]

Supporting Note: Major Ken Cowan has gone walkabout. AAVs coexist just fine with woodpeckers.
