On behalf OF Glasgow Hawks I would like to welcome all supporters and
guests to Old Anniesland for today's Premier 1 League encounter with
Selkirk. A special welcome goes to Selkirk President, Donald Macleod and
coach, Kevin Barrie and their respective 'teams'.
Matches against Selkirk are always highly enjoyable as both sides like
to pay open rugby and with our last three encounters being high scoring
affairs then hopefully another exciting match for the supporters is on
the cards.
Last week's match against Melrose was satisfying in that we played well
and have now bounced back from recent disappointments. With a bit of
luck we would have taken all four points and not just two but the lads
displayed great commitment for eighty minutes and hopefully this will be
continued today. The 2nd XV lost to a very good Stirling County side
last week and Stirling look as if they will go all the way and win the
league. The 2nds remain in second place and for a very young side have
developed nicely under the stewardship of Mike Blackie and Cammy Little.
Today the seconds play Hillhead-Jordanhill at New Anniesland.
Today's Match sponsor are our good friends and loyal supporters, James
Sim Ltd. I hope they will enjoy their lunch in their usual fashion. The
Ball Sponsor for today is Green's Health & Fitness. A big thank you to
Green's.
Our annual Supporter's Club event is confirmed for January 16th after
the Watsonians home fixture and this year I am delighted to have secured
the services of one of Scotland's funniest after dinner speakers in
former sprinter, George McNeil. Places are going fast so please contact
me on 0776 416 8989 to reserve your places. The Hawks Business Network
is also gathering pace and on the 17th of this month, we are hosting the
presentations of seven young Glasgow Warriors players who will be
presenting on aspects of rugby that potentially could support businesses
to improve. Again if you want to attend drop me a text or phone me on
0776 416 8989 to reserve a place.
Finally, both 1st and 2nd XVs are at West next week and then at home
against Ayr on the 19th. Four cracking matches in prospect so keep your
Saturdays free from Xmas shopping as you really know where you should
be!
Enjoy today's game.
Yours Aye,
Allan Mackintosh
Chairman, Glasgow Hawks.
