Sorry for delay - Presidential blunder!
A cold wintery afternoon at Helensburgh the team took to the park eager to stretch the bones after an enforced lay off.
The first half was fairly even with the home side looking more eager, creating better ruck ball and working more phases than our boys. At half time it was even Steven with points equal on 6 points each, thanks to Davy Whyte.
At the start of the second half some consternation on the far touchline as one of our oldest substitutes came on to stake a claim for a forthcoming tour slot - well done assistant coach Kenny!
Our guys worked out some of the lay off rust creating better ball and showing attacking promise in the backs.
It was always going to be close and with the score at 12 - 9 Helensburgh conceded a penalty just inside their own half. Gunn made good ground with the touch kick to the corner. Our forwards won the lineout ball and drove over and scored with Gordy Reid touching down. Missed the conversion and we then held out for the final 8 minutes to win 14 - 12.
An excellent away result!
