On behalf of Glasgow Hawks I would like to welcome all supporters and
guests to Old Anniesland for today's Premier 1 League encounter with
current champions, Ayr. A special welcome goes to Ayr President, Billy
McHarg, coach, Kenny Murray and their respective 'teams'.
Matches against Ayr are both highly enjoyable and highly competitive
with the last two matches being very close affairs. Hopefully another
exciting match for the supporters is on the cards. Ayr's efforts in the
British and Irish Cup to date have done Scottish Club Rugby proud and we
wish them every success in their remaining games. With some talk of
potentially increasing the number of Scottish clubs in the future we
have every motivation to try and increase our present league standing of
fourth
Last week's match against West was very satisfying in that we played
well and have now bounced back from recent disappointments. The lads
displayed great commitment for eighty minutes and a great second half
performance ensured a five point bonus win. The 2nd XV also won at West
and they have consolidated their second place in the Premier Reserve. To
cap a great weekend for Hawks, our youngsters at Under 16 and Under 14
levels also won last weekend at West and GHA respectively. Today the
seconds also play Ayr over the fence at New Anniesland.
Our annual Supporter's Club event is confirmed for January 16th after
the Watsonians home fixture and this year I am delighted to have secured
the services of one of Scotland's funniest after dinner speakers in
former sprinter, George McNeil. Places are going fast so please contact
me on 0776 416 8989 to reserve your places.
As this is our last home fixture this year can I take this opportunity
to wish all supporters, players , coaches and volunteers associated with
Hawks a very merry Christmas and a prosperous 2010.
Enjoy today's game.
Yours Aye,
Allan Mackintosh
Chairman, Glasgow Hawks.
