Good morning ladies & gentlemen.
There is precious little rugby to write about this month due to the big freeze. Tomorrow's game against Waysiders/Drumpellier has been postponed as has the 2nd XV game at Ardrossan.
However the big thaw is predicted and hopefully it will come in time to allow the game against Stewartry to go ahead a week tomorrow. Fortunately this is a home game so the chance of it being played is pretty good.
The players are desperate to get going again as training in the gym and weights room is no substitute to playing on grass.
The enthusiasm is exceptional and turn outs for training have been good. The main problem has been finding enough space to fit everyone in.
Sadly the Boxing Day game was cancelled due to the weather however that did not stop the Lunch which turned out to be a sparkling event that raised a bit of much needed cash. I think everyone was just pleased to get out of the house for the day.
The next event is the Burns Supper on Saturday 23rd January in the Clubhouse. The Burns Supper is now very well attended and a good fun evening. It is open to all ages. If you are interested in attending please reply to me as soon as possible.
We now have three postponed games to catch up on and the SRU have issued the following dates:
Saturday 13th February v Greenock Wanderers at Fort Matilda
Saturday 27th February v Highland at New Anniesland
These are both away international dates and kick off times have to be agreed.
As yet there is no date for the Waysiders/Drumpellier game.
Please put the dates in your diary as we will need a large support as we push for promotion. We are in second place 4 points ahead of Lasswade, however they have two games in hand. They have five postponed games to catch up on and next Saturday have to travel to Caithness!
Your support in the first half of the season has been great. Keep coming out in the second half and hopefully we will achieve the goal of promotion
