SCOTLAND ON SUNDAY REPORTS

ON A dreadful cold, wet day at Meggetland, Hawks' coach Peter Wright's first post-match thought was to advocate summer rugby after both sides struggled to come to terms with the conditions.
"After a six week lay-off, we're delighted to take four points from a tough match," he said.
Both sides had bother holding on to the slippy ball, but 'Muir made many more handling errors, regularly incurred the wrath of a somewhat inconsistent referee, and had three men shown yellow cards.
'Muir led through an early Freddy Lait short-range try, but Hawks pulled 10-8 ahead at the break after Cammy Kerr was similarly driven over. Duncan Weir added the conversion and a penalty, whilst Graeme Blackhall slotted a penalty for the home side. In a scrappy second half 'Muir never looked like scoring, but Hawks added three penalties – two by Weir and one by Mike Adamson.
