Welcome to all Hawks Junior Rugby players and supporters for our first home match of 2010 against Edinburgh Accies. Last Saturday saw the whole squad put in a great performance against Boroughmuir, the players put in a tremendous amount of effort in difficult conditions and they were all rewarded with their 19 - 8 victory. Please get behind the players and cheer them onto a victory at Old Anniesland today.
Today we welcome the 1st team squad from The High School of Glasgow, we hope that they enjoy the day and see a good Hawks performance that will encourage them to play rugby at Anniesland once they leave school. A very warm welcome to all players and coaches.
The Glasgow Hawks community programme has just started a new block of primary tag rugby coaching, we are currently working in the Knightswood learning community, this involves coaching in 6 primary schools, all the boys and girls will receive 6 weeks rugby coaching and a festival at the end of it. All the coaching will be delivered by Hawks Director of rugby Peter Wright, Hawks Captain Rory McKay and Hawks club development officer Grant Talbot. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Louise Keating the Active School Coordinator for organising all of these sessions.
Today’s Hawks community player profile is front row forward Joe Stafford, Joe joined Hawks in 2008 and has helped beef up our scrum and you will see once he gets the ball running forward there will be no stopping him, Joe is sponsored this year by ex Hawks player Fergus Wallace
