This kid’s gonna be huge for Scots

PROUD Peter Wright last night backed Scotland's newest star Richie Gray to be a big-stage giant for the next DECADE.
Glasgow Warriors ace Gray - who stands at a whopping 6ft 9ins - made his international debut in Sunday's loss to France and will win his second cap as an impact sub in Wales this weekend.
The youngster dedicated his first Scotland appearance to Wright - who helped nurture him at Glasgow Hawks - and the other coaches who have inspired him.
But modest ex-Lions ace Wright played down his own role in the development of a MASSIVE talent.
He said: "Ultimately Richie has done 99 per cent of the work himself, and he will be around for a long, long time.
"Richie was a teenager who inspired me as a coach. He had the talent and had so much to offer.
"He had the physicality and the sheer size.
"In fact, he was so huge that he sometimes felt he would do damage to other boys of his age - and mark my words, he COULD have damaged them if he had wanted to. So what we had to do was give him the confidence to actually use his physical attributes to the full - his height and his 19-odd stone.
"That was the hard bit. Now he IS playing to his size and that is why he is in the Scotland set-up.
"As soon as the pro team coaches saw him he was always going to get dragged in to that level.
"When you look at him, it is really quite difficult to believe he is actually Scottish.
"Physically, he looks more like the type of player produced by England or France, heavy - but very athletic.
"So all in all, he is a real quality guy and I do get a feeling of satisfaction from knowing I had a bit of a hand in his progress.
"I was proud when he ran on to the Murrayfield pitch against France. It was a buzz for me.
"But the truth is that Richie did the most important work himself."
Looking back on his early involvement with Gray, Wright added: "With all promising young players, you are dealing with the head as well as the physical skills. The tools are all there, so it's a case of identifying them in the player and making sure they're used in the appropriate way.

"I tried to identify the things he wasn't perhaps so good at in the hope of making him a better all-round performer while encouraging him to develop the aspects he was already good at.
"He's come on leaps and bounds. We had him last season in the Under-20 set-up and he was simply outstanding.
"It has been a long time since a guy from that age group squad has jumped into the senior team the following year.
"I have to say that it wasn't all plain sailing. It wasn't a case of having to drag him away from his PlayStation - he was always very driven. But we did need to have heart-to-heart chats from time to time.
"He was 17 when I linked up with him and like all young kids he tried to buck the system a little and he needed reined in a bit here and there. Sometimes it was a challenge for me, but the bottom line was that the talent was always there.
"Then he realised he had a switch-on button and that he could be destined for a massive career.
"In terms of Test matches, he's still at the bottom of that ladder.
"But barring injury, I truly believe he could be in or around the Scotland team for eight, nine... maybe even ten years."
Meanwhile, Chris Paterson has outlined his masterplan to follow up his amazing century with glory for Edinburgh.
Paterson will pick up his 100th cap in Cardiff on Saturday.
But after clinching a fresh deal with the Gunners, he insisted his other career ambition is to help the club win a top trophy.
Paterson, who will stay for at least two more years, said: "Since I returned from Gloucester, I feel I have improved hugely as a player and I'm as happy as I've ever been as a professional.
"A trophy is a goal for everybody at the club. We need to cement our progress with a trophy."
