Accies News

Good Afternoon all,
For once I am pleased to report mainly good news for this weekend when we play Kilmarnock at Bellsland on Saturday at 3-00pm.
Cruz Kawakameni and Matteo Giovanazzi return to strengthen the pack, both players were absent last week attending weddings. Weddings during the rugby season should be banned. This is probably the strongest pack that Accies can field. In the threequarters there are two changes. Brad Bell our American fullback, who has been having an outstanding season, has withdrawn with a hamstring problem and he is replaced by ace goalkicker Ali McLaren. Killie will not need to give away penalties in their own half as Ali is quite likely to kick the goals. Andrew Smart a former Glasgow Academy pupil gets his chance on the left wing following a number of first rate performances for the 2nd XV throughout the season so far.
The other piece of good news is that Stewart Smith is fit to resume his place in the centre. Last week he left the field in the first minute with a serious looking facial injury. Fortunately it turned out not to be as serious as it looked and he is fully restored.
With Lasswade losing last Saturday to bottom club Cambuslang Accies are still in the chase for promotion as they are still three points ahead although Lasswade have two game in hand. This week they have another tricky away game when they travel to Castle Douglas to play a Stewartry side that are desperate to score points to avoid relegation
The good news goes on. Accies have been drawn to play RHC at home in the second round of the SHE Shield. The tie takes place on Saturday 13th March. The kick off time has still to be agreed as that is the day that Scotland play England at Murrayfield. Kick off there is 5.00pm.
With the continuing frost there may be a doubt over the Kilmarnock game. Before travelling you can call 07740777498 to ensure that the game is on. The decision will be made at 1.00pm
We need you support and hope to see you again tomorrow.
Kind regards
Alasdair Graham
