The match against Kilmarnock due to be played yesterday was postponed due to a frozen pitch. The decision to call it off was left to the last moment in the hope that the pitch would thaw in time but it was not to be. You may therefore think that there will be little or no news in this report but read on because the news is significant. Our nearest rivals for the second promotion spot, Lasswade, have significantly lost two of their last three games leaving them two points ahead of Accies with the same number of games to play (5). On Saturday they lost 19-10 to bottom club Stewartry and in the process failed to pick up a losing bonus point. This brings them back into range and Accies have a real chance to overhaul them in the final run in to the end of the season.
Accies programme till the end of the league season is as follows:
Sat 27th Feb v Highland at New Anniesland kick off probably 12 noon
Sat 06th Mar v Preston Lodge at New Anniesland kick off 3pm
Sat 13th Mar v RHC at New Anniesland (Note this is a 2nd round SHE Shield tie)
Sat 27th Mar v Hawick YM at Hawick
Sat 03rd Apr v Waysiders/Drumpellier at Coatbridge
The match against Kilmarnock has still to be rearranged.
Lasswade's opponents are:
Waysiders/Drumpellier Away
Kilmarnock Home
Hawick YM Home
Newton Stewart Home
Highland Home
The Accies players know the significance of the situation and the golden opportunity it gives to grab that elusive promotion. Neither side can afford to slip up and bonus points may finally decide the issue.
We need your support at these games, please therefore put the dates in your diary and come out and cheer the boys on
Kind regards
Alasdair Graham
