2nds v Dundee HS. Terrific team performance resulted in outstanding win at Mayfield. After 2 games in 10 weeks it was difficult to predict how we would start. The answer only took 6mins as a great break by Paddy Boyer was finished under the posts by Cammy Kerr. Chippy O'Donnell added conv and a pen after 16mins. Lot of good phase play put pressure on Dundee's defence and Paddy exploited it by scoring after 29mins. Chippy added conv. Dundee came back into with a good try in the corner, but fortunate since scoring pass well forward! Try of game came 5mins later. Great support and pace created opportunity for Skinny Murray to burn defence and score under posts. No conv! HT 22-5. Greg Francis made comeback from injury in 50th min, intercepted pass from scrum 30secs later, ran 40m as if he was running thru' Saharan sand- but managed to drag himself over line. Inspired substitution!? Chippy conv for 29-12. Paddy kept pressure on Dundee by persuading one of them to hit him late, then scored under posts from quickly taken penalty. Chippy conv and pen took us to 39-12. Would we push on and score more or let Dundee pressurise for 20mins and defend desperately? Final score 39-26!!
