Things are moving fast for Duncan Weir
It's been quite a start to 2010 for Glasgow Hawks' stand-off Duncan Weir.
The former Cambuslang player represented Scotland in the IRB Sevens series, made his debut for Scotland U20 and last week he signed a pro contract with Glasgow Warriors.
“It’s just been coming, step by step, over the season," Duncan told the Rutherglen Reformer.
“It’s great to get, as I’m going to Ireland this weekend with the under-20s, it’s all happened so fast - but I’m not complaining.
“It’s been a bit of a non-stop year especially over the last couple of months with all the Scotland stuff coming up, and it’s been great. I wouldn’t be doing it if I didn’t enjoy it.
“Being from Glasgow, it’s a great opportunity to play for your local club, and although I’ve not played for them yet, I’ve got that target and want to try to get a few appearances sooner rather than later.”
Duncan is currently studying an HND in Sports Coaching with Development of Sport at Cumbernauld College, and he'll ensure he has his qualification before going pro.
He added: “My contract with the Warriors starts in the summer, but I’ll be finishing off at college before then
