Glasgow Hawks rugby club run a very successful community programme which is linked into the aims and targets of both the Scottish rugby union and Culture and Sport Glasgow. At the moment we are working with 16 primary schools and 6 secondary schools in the west of the city. We are working very closely with our 2 active school coordinators Andy Young and Louise Keating.

So far this year the Glasgow Hawks community programme has delivered a 5 week tag rugby programme to the following schools Corpus Christie, St Brendan’s, St Clare’s, St Paul’s and St Patrick’s. All of these schools feed into St Thomas Aquinas Secondary school who have been running some after school rugby sessions and will have curriculum rugby sessions next season.

Bankhead , Blairdardie, Garscadden , Knightswood, Scotsctoun and Yoker primary all feed into the Knightswood primary cluster and they have all had 5 weeks rugby coaching and the secondary school has had curriculum sessions this year and we are putting a number of senior pupils through their sports leaders award for rugby.

Antoine , Camstradden , Langfaulds and Stondeyke primary all feed into the Drumchapel primary cluster and they will receive their 5 weeks of tag rugby coaching after the Easter holidays, We will hope to get Drumchapel High School on board next season and deliver some rugby sessions to the children.

We are currently setting up to mini rugby satellite clubs for Glasgow Hawks mini rugby for children aged 6 – 12. One of these will be based at Netherton Community Centre in Knightswood and we hope to have the other one at Scotstoun Stadium although this has still to be confirmed.

On a Sunday we run a very successful mid rugby section for boys aged 12 – 16, we have teams at under 13, 14, 15 and 16 age groups, the teams will either train at Old Anniesland or will be playing games against local opposition, we are always looking for new members to come and join us.
