Good morning everyone.
Tomorrow at 3-00pm Accies will play what is undoubtedly the toughest match of the year when they face Dalziel at New Anniesland. Dalziel have won all 19 league and 2 league ties this season and are assured of a place in Premier Division 3 next season. There is little doubt that Accies are the underdogs but they will not be phased as they have selected a highly experienced side for the day.
The mercurial Stuart Low will play at full back and this will allow our all American boy Brad Bell to move into the centre. Captain Jamie Doig moves into the stand off berth vacated by Alan Wilson who has a long term injury.
In the forwards Matteo Giovanazzi is away on University business and Matt Franklin steps across from prop to fill the gap. David Calder returns to play loose head. It is good to see our two giants, Sandy Fitzpatrick and Steve Begley back together in the second row and Jack Walker is fit again and takes over the blindside flankers role. It is certainly the biggest pack we have fielded this season so if it is a wet day stuffing the ball up their shirts English style is an option although the way the way the backs have played recently that is unlikely.
Six years ago Accies played Dalziel in the semi final of this same competition. That time Accies were two divisions lower than Dalziel but still went on to win 29-0 and to a memorable finals day at Murrayfield. No doubt Dalziel will be keen to exact revenge for that defeat.
We need your support tomorrow. Please come out and create a great atmosphere and cheer the boys on. Quarterfinal ties do not come along every year so make this most of this opportunity. Soup and sandwiches will be available in the Clubhouse before the game for a modest charge.
Please note that as it is a cup tie there will be an entrance charge of £5 for everyone (children free)
The players and committee look forward to seeing you tomorrow for what is potentially the last home game of the season
