Scotland 7-12 France
A late converted try was not enough to ensure victory for the Scotland 7s team against France on day one of the IRB Sevens World Series event in Hong Kong today.
Having conceded an early try, Scotland proceeded to play with the majority of possession but struggled to convert that possession into points.
Scotland 7s coach, Stephen Gemmell, said: "It's a missed opportunity. France had only two chances to score and they took them.
"We, however, had about 60% of possession but lacked patience and discipline. Our game then became flat which played into France's hands."
The Scots' only score came from winger Andrew Turnbull with Mike Adamson adding the conversion.
They will play Chinese Taipei tomorrow morning before facing World Series leaders New Zealand in their final pool match.
Scotland 7s (v France): John Dalziel (Melrose), Michael Fedo (Watsonians), Struan Dewar (Heriot's)**, Mike Adamson*, Rory Hutton (Heriot's)**, Lee Jones (Selkirk)**, Andrew Turnbull (Edinburgh)
