Hawks play their final league match of the season at Burnbrae because Old Anniesland is required for Cricket
This is not the first time that Hawks have played a "home" match at Burnbrae having faced Newcastle Falcons in Milngavie in the spring of 1999
The Club is most grateful to old friends West for this support based on a friendship and rivalry that goes back to 1868 when Hawks founder club Glasgow Accies first played their Glasgow rivals
This friendship was most evident during the 1950s when West had been evicted from their home of 80 years at Hamilton Crescent and combined with Kelvinside Accies and played at Balgray
Throughout the 50s West relied on support from Glasgow HSFP and Glasgow Accies amongst others for the use of the Annieslands for training and matches
This was recognised when Burnbrae opened in the early 60s and West asked Glasgow HSFP to do the honours with the first try at new ground being scored by the now GHK honorary president Percy Friebe
