Former Hawks coach Cobey steers Lasswade to Nat 1

By GARY HEATLY
LASSWADE coach Dave Cockburn praised his players after the Midlothian side clinched promotion to Scottish Hydro National One with a thumping 74-0 win over Hawick YM.
They knew that a victory in their final rearranged match at Hawthornden would see them leapfrog Glasgow Accies into the second spot behind National Two champions Greenock Wanderers. And Saturday's result means Lasswade have won promotion, the National Shield and the club of the month in recent weeks. It is also their second promotion in succession.

After an edgy first ten minutes against the Borderers Lasswade, with Bernie Hennessey orchestrating things, took control and the tries were shared around the team with Craig Quigley, Richard Borthwick and Gavin Sharp getting double

Cockburn said: "In the last few weeks the pressure has been on the guys knowing that they had to win a number of league matches and contest a cup final, but they have come through it well and we are looking forward to competing in a higher division next term."
