When an Annieslander led Lord Coe

Now that we have reached the so called close season which seems to last about a fortnight thoughts turn to other sports
However the pursuit of fitness is never far from one's mind which makes this writer ponder on Annieslanders who in the past have done just that to considerable effect
Regular readers know that this scribe has more than just a passing interest in athletics a sport that many of the modern rugby training methods have been derived from has uncovered the record of a former lock forward from Anniesland who could also run a bit
Alan Currie who played 2nd row at New Anniesland went on to run 3.46 over 1500m and in the 1984 Olympic Trials held at The Palace that's Crystal not Buckingham actually led Seb now Lord Coe who now heads up the 2012 Olympic Organisation whilst also carrying out a damage limitation exercise on behalf of England's World Cup bid
Coe went on to win Olympic Gold in L.A.and former Hawk Stuart Dunk went on to work for Lord Coe
Maybe we should recruit a Margo Wells for pre season training
