ABERDONIAN TAKES MASSIVE STEP UP AS HE PREPARES FOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OPENER
Hunter gets under-20 call-up to face Aussies

Former Robert Gordon’s College prop George Hunter has been named in the starting team for Scotland’s opening game of the IRB world under-20 championship.
The Scots face Australia at the Estadio CA Colon in Santa Fe today, the first of three pool games over the next eight days. Hunter, who now plays his rugby with Glasgow Hawks, was promoted from the under-19s this season and played in Scotland’s matches during the under-20 six nations championship.
But his first game in the junior world championship against last year’s third-place finishers represents a massive step up for the Aberdonian and, as it will be for the others in the team, a huge test of character.
Australia have already shown their strength by defeating hosts Argentina 33-13 in a warm-up game in Buenos Aires but at the cost of tournament-ending injuries to two of their better players.
Scotland will go into this game with five players who played in last year’s championship in Japan. One of these, Michael Tait, the son of Scotland legend, Alan Tait, will be making his first appearance for the under 20s this season, having been sidelined with an ankle injury.
Missing from the Scotland line-up is influential lock Grant Gilchrist, who played in Japan last year.
The Stirling County second row has had a recurrence of a shin injury and is ruled out for the opening match.
