Club funds
Long-standing Accies rugby supporter Niall Campbell, has very generously
offered Accies Rugby courtesy of his magnificent Rowallan Castle Course,
for a Shot-gun start Golf Day on Sunday the 8th of August, for the purpose
of raising funds for the new season. This new course is to be officially
opened a week later by Colin Montgomerie, the Ryder Cup Captain.
This 4-ball shot-gun Stableford competition will start at 10.30 am., with
coffee and bacon rolls being served between 9 and 10 0ʼclock.
John Beattie, who will be involved in the day, will be on the 1st tee for Team
Photographs and to welcome each team passing that point.
John, as many of you will know is returning to the Club to be Head Coach
next season, has plans to further develop rugby at New Anniesland.
Plans include a new youth development programme, which will be fronted by
new committee member Mark Walker, Father of 1st XV player Jack Walker.
The committee intends to use the proceeds from this most generous offer
from Niall to fund the new youth programme and to help with the necessary
funding of our Travel and Physio commitments for the new seasonʼs league
campaign.
This will be a unique opportunity for all Accies rugby players, both current
and ʻGoldenʼ, their spouses, or lady friends, to play the new Rowallan Castle
Course and to meet and chat to the director of rugby for two seasonʼs,
Donald Reid as well as John Beattie, his coaching team, Club Captain
Stewart Smith and some of the
players.
After the Prize-giving a unique item, signed by Colin Montgomerie, will
be auctioned.
