An Accies Squad which features former Hawks legend Kenny Sinclair has reached the final of the Glasgow Touch tournament
Report supplied by Ross Chassels
After 7 weeks of league competition we finished 5th in the league after playing some weeks with no subs which for 40mins takes some doing!!
Last week we came through the quarter final tie against the Cobras 6-4 and last night we played the Hammerman, who topped the league standings, in the semis. Having been truly thumped in the league tie 12-2 we were up against it!! However, in true Accie style we stuck with our flamboyant approach to touch to fight out a 5-5 draw at full time. At this point I should point out we did witness the McKnight red mist who was red carded and if he hadn’t infact come back on to the pitch later on, Kenny Sinclair would have gone on to score the decisive try to win the match – however the referee stopped play and award a penalty against Richard for being back on the pitch!
Fortunately for Richard, extra time allowed us to step up our flair and with the teams now down to 5 on 5 (the rules in touch!) Captain Stu sold a few dummies (in the that way where he throws his head in one direction and his ‘nae calfs’ in the other!) to the opposition and glided into the corner to score the sudden death winner.
Great effort from the team and squad listed below
