GHK beat Glens (who will play in the league against Accies this season) 26-14 this afternoon at OA. A game played at a frantic pace most of the time allowed the Old Annieslanders to score 4 tries to 2 despite being under enormous pressure in the scrum - and with a wobbly line-out. The match was very well refereed with excellent advantage being played to the benefit of flowing rugby.
It was early season fair with mistakes from both sides but Glens were probably the bit unluckier in being held up over the line on about 3 or 4 occasions or dropping the ball with the whitewash in sight.
Glens have an impressive coaching team led by ex-Hawks captain Mark Sitch with Ali Kellock adding a wise word or two.
It was an extremely valuable exercise from the GHK point of view but we have a mountain to climb against our great pals from Greenock next week.
