Glasgow Hawks 48-3 West of Scotland

1st league game of season always brings its own pressures, add in a local derby and there were a few nerves on touchline!!
Hawks dominated from the start  to ease those nerves, all territory and possession  but struggled to put points on board. Eventually after 20mins Tom McGarrity breached the line for well worked first score.Robbie McGregor added conv and a pen shortly after. West defence was fully committed and eventually they got in game, stand off kicking a pen.
10-3 Half-time
Had to rejig team as we lost Franco, Tam McG and young Jack McFarlane thru' injury and illness. 2nd half settled into same pattern, total pressure and possession from Hawks , resolute defence from West.
Difficult for a team to defend for 80mins. So it proved,  Johnny Potter scored after good build up in 55mins, converted by Robbie McG. 17-3.
Floodgates opened, Hawks upped the tempo, West couldn't cope and 5 more tries followed. Sean Murray scorched over , Jonno Wright  cruised another , Paddy Boyer intercepted outrageously and ran 60metres, Mark Taylor benefited from Chris Hamilton's generosity , and Sandy Bruce luckily squeezed over for debut try  before final whistle blew. Robbie McG somehow missed the conversion to make it 50 !! You don't do that against West!
Lot of hard work to come but decent start and players are up for the challenges ahead.
