Good evening all,
On Saturday Accies make the trip to Berwick to play the first of their long distance away matches.K.O. 2pm
Berwick were relegated from National League Division 1 at the end of last season and therefore are a bit of an unknown quantity to the Accies players. Accies have only played Berwick once before and that was in 2004 in the Shield final at Murrayfield.
Last Saturday Berwick lost their first game of the season when they went down by the narrowest of margins 24-23 to Stewartry at Castle Douglas.
As you are aware Accies scored 8 tries to nil in the defeat of Newton Stewart by 55-0. Confidence is high and coach John Beattie has had to make only one forced change to the side.
Scrum half Alan Wilson has an injured shoulder and is replaced by the highly experienced Stephen (Chippy) O'Donnell a man of many clubs who will now be able to add Accies to his list although he may have played for us before if not in XV's perhaps in 7's.
There is one change on the bench with Andrew Smart coming in for the unavailable Max Henderson. Andrew played quite a few games for the 1st XV at the end of last season.
The coach leaves New Anniesland at 10am and supporters are welcome to travel with the team
Hearts & Balls Quiz Night
This was held at New Anniesland last night and we are pleased to report that the Accies team of Robin McNaught, Chris Dunn, Graeme Miller and Murray Henderson all players or ex players were the outright winners. The team kindly donated the prize money back to the Hearts & Balls Charity. It was a successful evening with 9 teams of varying ability taking part.
Next Home Game
Takes place on Saturday 11th September K.O. when Waysiders/Drumpellier are the visitors
Kind regards
Alasdair Graham
