Good morning gentlemen
I am sorry to report that it was not a good weekend foe Accies supporters as the 1st XV went down by 31-26 to Berwick and the 2nd XV by the narrowest margin of 20-19 to GHK.
Reports on both games can be found on the website www.glasgowacciesrfc.com . Look in the News section and scroll down to match reports.
The good news is that the 1stXV scored 4 tries and lost by less than 7 points and therefore pick up two bonus points. This is the equivalent to drawing the game.
The game at Berwick was never going to be easy as they were an unknown quantity as they had been relegated last year and Accies had never played at Scremerston Park which turned out to be pretty exposed and a windy day. Unfortunately Accies lost Andy Jackson their dynamic open side flanker to a training injury on Thursday evening and had little time to rejig the pack.
The Division this year will probably be decided by the number of away wins that teams gain. The travelling distances are great and in many instances it is a whole day or more away. Few teams will travel with full teams due to work and family commitments. Gaining two points on Saturday may prove to be crucial at the end of the day.
Next Saturday Accies play Waysiders/Drumpellier at New Anniesland at 3pm. Please come out and cheer the team on. The goodly crowd at the last home game was greatly appreciated by the players.
