STEVIE HARTE

MESSSAGE RECEIVED FROM LINDSAY CRAWFORD
WILL BE WELL REMEMBERED BY ALL WHO PLAYED AGAINST PALMERSTON

"He was a 19 stone tight head prop, who God had built to do a job on loose
head props like me!"
Lindsay Crawford

Lindsay will be representing the Club at the funeral

De La Salle Palmerston FC are saddened to announce, the death of club stalwart Stevie Harte, who passed away on Thursday morning.

A past pupil of De La Salle College Churchtown, Stevie was a legendary figure, during the 70’s & 80’s with Palmerston FC, who played with great distinction at all levels for his beloved club. During this time he also played for Leinster.

His playing career was hugely curtailed, after a nasty broken ankle injury, in the late 1970’s. However in 1985 when Palmerston & De La Salle merged, he played on the first De La Salle Palmerston J2 team, which went on to win the league that year.

He was a hugely popular and charismatic figure in Leinster (and indeed Irish Club Rugby), who had many friends throughout the game.
His warm personality and welcoming smile, made sure that people remembered him, both on and off pitch, making one of the true characters of the game.

Funeral arrangements are Mount Jerome Crematorium this Monday 13th September at 14.00 and then back to the club house at Kirwan Park.
