Heriot's 29-12 Glasgow Hawks

Quality Heriot's team and some simple errors combined to give Hawks 2's second defeat of season. Started well with try after 3mins by Sean Murray, well constructed after good phases and deft chip from Mike Martin for Sean to gather on bounce.  Pulsating 1st half , both teams battling toe to toe, great intensity. Hawks just couldn't get enough quick ball and Heriots were quick on our mistakes. Countered from poor clearance kick, won ball in air and outpaced defence. 7-5 after 20mins. Heriot's solid defence kept us out and missed tackle in midfield allowed them into corner where quick ruck ball brought 2nd try after 30mins, 7-12.
Needed solid start after H-T, but allowed long Heriots kick to drift into corner. Hawks lineout not accurate and  ricochet taken by Heriot's prop who smashed over line 7-17. Hawks under cosh for next 20mins as Heriot's confidence grew. Really tested our defence, but we could have prevented last 2 scores. First came from Hawks taking ball into contact, isolated and turned-over. Lightning hands and pace outstripped our defence for another  unconverted try. 7-22. Couple of missed tackles allowed Heriot's in behind and finished well in corner. 7-29 after 65mins. Couple of changes added a bit of a spark back and Mark Taylor eventually found space, quick feet and he was in space. Hauled down in front of posts, quick couple of rucks and pass found Chris Breckenridge  who finished it off. We had other chances, glaring 2 on 1 not taken and had Heriot's under pressure for last part. Need to regroup , tweak a few things and get back on winning form. Final 12-29 and despite defeat  a pretty good advert for 2ndXV league.
