SCOTS SUCCUMB BUT FINISH SIXTH

Tuesday, 12 October 2010

The frenetic nature of the hard-fought win over Kenya caught up with the Scotland 7s team as they fell to a 34-0 defeat in the Plate final at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
Stephen Gemmell's side were required to play an extra five minutes in the Delhi heat against the African outfit as the semi-final went to sudden death, and just didn't have enough left in the tank to see off the hard-hitting islanders who ran in six tries, three in either half.
Scotland, for whom Andy Turnbull was a familiar bright spark, finish the competition in sixth, two places higher than the IRB seeding they took into the event.
